There are now seven maps in this collection - each a re-mapping of an actual landscape by a primary school or early years community, supported to adventure creatively outdoors by CCI artists as part of our Artscapers programme. Many have over 100 layers, tangling together the children’s stories and dreams as well as detailed observations of the world around them. These projects took place in outdoor spaces literally on the schools’ doorsteps - school fields and playgrounds, hedgerows and paths, graveyards, small woods and nature reserves – and each one offered rich opportunities for children to learn together about themselves and the world around them.
