Tent pegs of life

Tent pegs of life

Immovable, enduring but ever changing; this tree, all trees, are the ultimate tent pegs of life: keeping us tethered to the earth, to the past and to the future. Messy, eccentric, buffeted by the weather, but so too authoritative, upstanding, and unyielding. Trees are nature’s calendar marking the seasons and recording the years. Innately hopeful, sustaining, they call to mind the tenacity of life and of the natural world. Tall, imposing, reaching high above, they keep us grounded. Or they at least they should.
