This is part of the magnificent stand of mature London Planes in Alexandra Gardens. I go by these trees every day, and they give me so much pleasure. Their silhouettes against the sky in winter is a truly beautiful sight. My heart leaps when they come into leaf in the spring and then the leaves start rustling in the wind. The shade they give in the hot summer is so welcome. They help make the Gardens an oasis of calm in the city, when we’re playing there with our grandchildren, we’re in our own little world. In autumn, the leaves fall and provide a colourful carpet which is just great for running through. My life is much richer for knowing these beautiful trees.
